Full-Face Motorcycle Helmets
Maximum coverage. The chin bar protects the area that hits first in most crashes, and the sealed shield keeps out wind, rain, and debris. The default for commuting and highway miles.
Full-face protection with a chin bar that lifts. Talk, drink, or cool off at a stop without pulling the helmet. Slightly heavier, and worth it for touring and daily riding.
Three-quarter coverage with an open chin. Better airflow and visibility, and easier on and off. Best for cruisers and around-town riding at lower speeds.
Minimum coverage, maximum airflow. No chin bar and no shield, so pair with eye protection. Popular on cruisers for short rides in warm weather at lower speeds.
Helmets are organized here by how much of your head they cover. That's the tradeoff every rider makes: more coverage means more protection and less airflow, less coverage means the reverse. Start with how and where you ride, then get sized in person, since fit determines whether a helmet does its job.
The LS2 Advant X (FF901) is a modular motorcycle helmet with a chin bar that rotates a full 180 degrees to rest behind the head, so the same helmet can be ridden as either a full face or an open face. The shell is high performance fiberglass composite (HPFC) and the helmet weighs 1600 g plus or minus 50 g. It is certified to ECE 22.06, ECE P and J (dual open and full face homologation), and DOT FMVSS 218. Sizes run XS through 3XL across two shell sizes, and every helmet ships with a Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision insert, a dark smoke shield, and a carrying bag.
What this helmet is built for
The Advant X is aimed at riders who want one helmet for mixed use: closed up on the highway, opened up in traffic, at fuel stops, or on slow city miles. Because it carries both the ECE P (protective chin bar) and J (open face) ratings, it is legal to ride in either position rather than only for stopping. The tradeoff for that versatility is weight and cost: at roughly 3 lb 8 oz it is heavier than a comparable full face, and the rotating mechanism adds parts that a fixed-chin helmet does not have.

How to measure for helmet fit
Measuring your head is the right place to start, but it is only a guideline. Different head shapes can require a slightly smaller or larger helmet in any given model, so trying on the specific model is always recommended. A helmet should be as snug as possible without being tight enough to cause a headache. Being fitted in person by a professional is the most reliable method.
Measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure, or with a length of string that you then line up against a ruler.
Start above the ear and circle all the way around, resting the tape about a half inch above the eyebrows and across the fullest part of the back of the head.
Measure several times so you do not end up with a reading that is too small or too large.
Compare your measurement to the size chart. If you fall between two sizes, take the larger size.

Common questions
Can the Advant X be ridden with the chin bar rotated back?
Yes. It carries ECE P certification as a full face and ECE J certification as an open face, which means it is homologated for riding in either position rather than only for stopping.
Does the Advant X come with a Pinlock insert?
Yes. A Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision anti-fog insert is included in the box, along with a dark smoke shield and a carrying bag.
Does it have an internal sun visor?
Yes. A drop-down sunshield is built into the shell and operates from a hidden sliding button. It can be removed without tools using the easy-remove mechanism.
How much does the Advant X weigh?
1600 g plus or minus 50 g, roughly 3 lb 8 oz. That is heavier than a typical fiberglass full face, which is the usual tradeoff for a modular chin bar mechanism.
What size shell will I get?
The Advant X uses two shells. Sizes XS through L share one shell, and XL through 3XL share the other, with five EPS densities and seven liner sizes spread across the range to keep proportions correct.
Can I change the fit without changing helmet size?
To a degree. Cheek pads are available in slim and standard thickness in three size groups, and the liner is sold separately in seven sizes, so the interior can be adjusted within a shell size.
Do Advant X parts fit the standard Advant?
Shields and Pinlock inserts do not. Advant X shields and inserts do not fit the Advant FF906, and Advant KPA shields do not fit the Advant X or Advant X Carbon. The inner drop-down sunshield is the exception and fits Advant, Advant II, Advant X, and Advant X Carbon.
Before You Select a Size: Helmet-Fit Facts
A helmet is one of the most important pieces of riding gear you will choose, and the size printed on the label is only a starting point. Head circumference, head shape, crown contact, cheek-pad pressure and the retention system all affect whether a helmet fits correctly. Two helmets marked the same size can fit very differently—even within the same brand.
Measure around the widest part of your head, keeping the tape level and approximately one inch above your eyebrows.
A new helmet should feel evenly snug around the entire head without sharp or painful pressure points.
When you move the helmet gently from side to side, your skin should move with the liner rather than the helmet sliding independently.
Fasten the retention system and confirm that the helmet cannot roll forward or lift off the head.
Wear the helmet for several minutes before deciding. Comfort padding may settle with use, but an incorrect shell shape or painful pressure point is unlikely to be solved by choosing blindly.

The Shoei Neotec 3 is a premium modular touring helmet engineered for riders who want full face protection, convenient flip up access, refined highway aerodynamics, strong ventilation, and seamless communication integration. Shoei developed the shell, chin bar, shield, sun visor, interior, and airflow system as one complete platform rather than treating the modular mechanism as an add on.
What improved over the Neotec II
The Neotec 3 is a genuine redesign rather than a cosmetic refresh. Shoei retained the familiar modular touring concept, then revised the systems that most directly affect visibility, airflow, wind management, everyday operation, and communication integration.
New CNS 3C shield system: The Neotec II used the CNS 3 shield with side mounted operation. The Neotec 3 moves to a newly developed CNS 3C shield with a center locking tab. The new shape improves sealing around the eye port, reduces optical distortion, and allows balanced opening with either hand.
Improved shield venting: The new shield mechanism includes a micro opening position that lets the rider introduce a controlled amount of airflow for defogging without opening the shield fully.
Larger internal sun visor: The QSV 2 visor extends about 5 millimeters farther than the QSV 1 used in the Neotec II. This provides greater coverage and reduces distracting light entering below the visor.
Upgraded ventilation: Shoei redesigned the closable brow and chin intakes, internal air channels, and rear extraction points to increase airflow. The chin intake also gains a removable insect filter that makes debris easier to clean out.
Refined wind and noise management: The reshaped shell, improved shield seal, revised lower edge, and integrated spoiler work together to create cleaner airflow and better noise isolation than the previous generation. Helmet fit, motorcycle windscreen, and riding position will still affect the sound a rider experiences.
New communication integration: The Neotec II was designed around the Sena SRL and SRL2. The Neotec 3 uses Shoei Comlink integration for the optional Sena SRL3, allowing the controls, speakers, microphone, and battery to fit neatly into the helmet with minimal external bulk.
Updated chin strap hardware: A new stainless steel micro ratchet is lighter, smoother to operate, and designed to provide more consistent adjustment than the previous closure.
Improved glove friendly operation: The flip up release, shield control, ventilation controls, and sun visor slider were shaped for easier use while wearing riding gloves.
Weight comparison: The added refinement does not make the complete helmet lighter. Shoei lists the Neotec 3 at approximately 4.15 pounds in size Medium compared with approximately 4.09 pounds for the Neotec II. The difference is about one ounce.
Refined modular system
The chin bar opens with a large glove friendly release and rotates smoothly upward for fuel stops, conversations, and other stationary use. The locking mechanism uses durable metal components and is designed to close with a positive, reassuring engagement.
Shell and impact management
Advanced Integrated Matrix shell combines fiberglass and organic fibers
Multi density EPS liner manages impact energy across different zones
Emergency Quick Release System supports easier cheek pad removal by trained responders
DOT approved for street use
Wind tunnel developed aerodynamics
The shell shape, chin bar, lower edge, and integrated spoiler were tested together in Shoei’s wind tunnel. The goal is balanced airflow, reduced lift, and stable tracking during long highway rides. Attention to sealing and lower edge turbulence also helps create a more controlled cockpit environment.
Touring focused ventilation
A closable chin intake directs air toward the shield area, while the upper intake moves cooling air through channels in the EPS liner. Rear exhaust outlets help release warm air. The front intake includes a removable insect filter for easier maintenance.
CNS 3C shield system
Optically accurate curvature helps reduce distortion
Center locking tab creates even pressure against the eye port seal
Micro opening position provides controlled airflow for defogging
Tool free removal makes shield changes and cleaning easier
Pinlock anti fog insert is included
Blocks more than 99 percent of harmful ultraviolet light
QSV 2 internal sun visor
The internal sun visor provides about 5 millimeters more coverage than the prior generation. It deploys with a smooth external slider and retracts fully when not needed. Its dedicated storage space preserves protective EPS thickness around the forehead.
Comfort and secure closure
The three dimensional interior is removable, washable, and designed to support the head evenly. Replaceable cheek pads and center pads allow fit adjustment and long term refresh. A stainless steel micro ratchet closure gives riders fast, consistent adjustment while maintaining a secure connection.
Shoei Comlink communication integration
The shell is prepared for the optional Sena SRL3 system. This purpose built installation keeps the control unit, speakers, microphone, and battery neatly integrated with minimal external hardware.

The Shoei GT Air 3 is a premium full face touring helmet built for riders who want long distance comfort, quiet air management, integrated sun protection, and modern communication capability without giving up a sporty feel. Shoei refined nearly every major system from the previous GT Air 2, then validated the design in its in house wind tunnel.
What changed from the GT Air 2
The reshaped shell and spoiler reduce aerodynamic drag while improving stability at highway speed. Shoei reports approximately 6 percent less wind resistance and 11 percent less lift than the GT Air 2. The ventilation system places the intake ports directly in the air stream and uses internal EPS channels to move fresh air through the helmet more effectively. The center locking shield system is easier to operate with either hand, and the internal sun visor provides about 5 millimeters more coverage.
Shell and impact management
Advanced Integrated Matrix shell combines fiberglass and organic fibers for strength with controlled elasticity
Multi density EPS liner is tuned to manage impact energy across different areas of the helmet
Emergency Quick Release System allows trained responders to remove the cheek pads more easily
DOT approved for street use
Aerodynamics and ventilation
The compact shell shape, molded rear spoiler, and carefully controlled surface transitions were developed to reduce buffeting and lift in real riding positions. A large chin intake and upper intake feed air into channels molded through the EPS liner. Warm air exits through the rear exhaust system. The front vent includes a removable insect filter for easier cleaning.
CNS 1C shield system
Optically accurate shield design helps minimize distortion
Blocks more than 99 percent of harmful ultraviolet light
Center locking tab provides an even seal around the eye port
Micro opening position allows controlled airflow when extra defogging is needed
Tool free shield removal makes cleaning and replacement simple
Pinlock EVO anti fog insert is included
QSV 2 internal sun visor
The enlarged internal sun visor offers about 5 millimeters more coverage than the prior design. It deploys with a smooth external slider and retracts fully into the shell when not needed. The visor is designed to preserve the helmet’s protective liner rather than reducing EPS thickness around the eye area.
Comfort for long rides
The removable and washable three dimensional interior uses moisture managing fabrics in high contact areas. Replaceable center pads and cheek pads allow fit tuning over the life of the helmet. A stainless steel micro ratchet closure provides secure, repeatable adjustment, while the 21 millimeter chin strap helps spread pressure comfortably. A breath guard and chin curtain help manage fog and lower edge turbulence.
Communication ready
Shoei Comlink integration provides a clean mounting area for the optional Sena SRL3 communication system. The helmet remains streamlined when the system is installed, with controls and speakers positioned specifically for this shell.

SHOEI RF SR 2 Full Face Motorcycle Helmet
The SHOEI RF SR 2 takes the proven everyday performance of the original RF SR and refines the areas riders notice most on the road. Its updated aerodynamic profile improves stability at speed, larger vent controls make airflow easier to adjust with gloves, and the renewed interior provides a softer, more comfortable feel for daily commutes and longer rides.
What Has Improved Over the RF SR
More refined aerodynamics: The revised shell shape is designed to reduce drag and lift compared with the previous model, helping the helmet feel more stable and less tiring at highway speeds.
Better ventilation control: The familiar three intake and two exhaust vent layout now uses larger, easier to operate shutters. Partial open positions let riders fine tune airflow instead of choosing only fully open or fully closed.
Updated interior comfort: The removable and washable 3D interior uses soft brushed fabric for a smoother feel against the skin. Optional cheek pads and center pads allow the fit to be adjusted more precisely.
Current safety certification: The RF SR 2 meets Snell M2025D and DOT FMVSS No. 218 standards.
Proven Features That Carry Forward
AIM+ shell construction: Multiple layers of fiberglass and organic fibers provide a strong balance of impact performance, flexibility, and manageable weight.
CWR 1 shield system: The optically clear shield works with the QR E base plate for quick shield changes and precise shield adjustment.
Pinlock EVO lens included: The supplied DKS301 insert helps resist fogging in cold, damp, or changing riding conditions.
Adjustable 3D interior: The center pad and cheek pads can be removed for washing or replaced with optional thicknesses to personalize the fit.
Balanced road weight: Approximately 3.49 pounds or 1,593 grams in a medium solid color helmet.
Made for Everyday Street Riding

Why Come to Eagle Leather for a Helmet Fitting?
Our staff is trained to help with helmet fitting and can help you compare head shape, size, pressure points and retention across different models. Inventory changes daily, but Eagle Leather consistently carries many hundreds of helmets—often approaching 1,000 units—across half-shell, open-face, modular, adventure and full-face styles. That selection gives you the opportunity to compare brands and internal shapes instead of relying on a size label alone.
For such an important piece of riding gear, we encourage you to visit Eagle Leather for an in-person fitting before selecting a size without trying the helmet on.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HEAD SIZE
To determine where you fall on SHOEI's sizing chart (as a starting point for proper helmet fit), pass a soft, flexible tape measure horizontally around your head at a height of approximately one inch (2.5cm) above your eyebrows (the largest measurement around your forehead).
Select the helmet size that is closest to your head measurement from the sizing guidelines above. If your head measurement falls between two helmet sizes, first try on the smaller of the two helmets.
THE PERFECT FIT
No helmet can protect the wearer against all unforeseeable high- and low-speed impacts. However, to help maximize head protection, the helmet must fit properly, and the retention system must be securely fastened under the chin. Failure to ride with a proper fitting helmet and securely fastened chinstrap is dangerous, as the helmet could come off during an accident, resulting in severe head trauma or death.
To determine the proper helmet fit and learn how to safely secure your chinstrap retention system, we recommend viewing SHOEI's "Helmet Fit" video below, or consult with an authorized SHOEI dealer today. Proper fit is important not only for comfort, but for safety, as well.
Equipped with many of SHOEI’s top features while keeping functionality efficient and to the point, the all-new RF-SR is anything but “entry level”. Boasting a compact, aerodynamic shell design along with sharp and aggressive styling, the RF-SR has a progressive look all of its own. Exceptional airflow, an advanced shield system, and a fully removable liner allow the RF-SR to excel whether short-distance street performance or long-distance touring comfort is your jam. The RF-SR–Streamlined functionality and affordability with premium SHOEI quality.

Frequently Asked Questions About Motorcycle Helmets
Full face, modular, open face, or half: which helmet style should I buy?
Full face helmets cover the most, including the chin bar, and are the quietest at speed, which suits highway miles and Pacific Northwest weather. Modular helmets have a chin bar that lifts so you can talk, drink, or take a break without pulling the helmet off, trading some weight and a hinge for that convenience. Open face helmets leave the chin exposed but keep the top and sides covered, favoring airflow and an unobstructed view. Half helmets are the lightest and coolest option and cover the least. Start with how much of your riding happens above 45 mph and in rain, then compare specific models in full face, modular, open face, or half helmets.
Is a modular helmet as safe as a full face helmet?
A modular helmet carrying a DOT certification has passed the same federal test a certified full face has, so certification is not the difference. The difference is structural. A modular has a hinge and a latch where a full face has solid shell, which adds weight and adds a mechanism that can wear. Some modulars are certified for riding with the chin bar closed only, so check the specific model rather than assuming. Riders who want the chin bar to lift usually accept the extra weight for the convenience, and riders who never open it are generally better served by a full face.
What size helmet does my child need?
Youth helmets are sized to a child's head circumference, not to their age, and a helmet a child will grow into does not protect them, because a loose helmet can shift or come off in a crash. Measure around the head about an inch above the eyebrows and match that to the model's sizing chart. A correct fit is snug at the cheeks with no movement when the head shakes and no gap under the strap. Washington also prohibits carrying a passenger under five years old on a motorcycle. We fit youth helmets in our Lakewood store before purchase, and you can see what we carry in youth motorcycle helmets.
Can I replace the face shield on my helmet?
Yes, on nearly every modern helmet. Face shields are wear items and are meant to be replaced when scratched, hazed, or when you want a different tint. Shields are model specific rather than universal, so you need the shield made for your exact helmet, not one that looks similar. Most current helmets use a tool-less mechanism, so the swap takes under a minute once you know the motion. If you know your helmet brand and model, browse helmet shields and visors, or bring the helmet into our Lakewood store and we will match it at the counter.
What does a DOT rating on a helmet actually mean?
A DOT rating means the helmet is certified to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 218, the United States standard covering impact absorption, penetration resistance, and retention system strength. Manufacturers self-certify to it and the government spot-tests helmets from the market. ECE is the European standard and works differently, with batch testing before helmets reach riders. Snell is a voluntary private standard some manufacturers pay to meet on top of DOT. A helmet can carry more than one. What matters legally in the United States is the DOT certification, and a helmet without it is not legal to ride in on public roads in Washington. Certifications are listed on each product page.
Is a helmet required by law in Washington?
Yes. Washington has a universal helmet law under RCW 46.37.530. Every operator and passenger on a motorcycle, moped, or motor-driven cycle must wear a helmet meeting United States Department of Transportation standards, with the neck or chin strap fastened securely while the vehicle is in motion. There is no exception for age, experience, or trip length, which makes Washington stricter than many states. Novelty helmets without a DOT certification do not satisfy the law. Riders on a motorcycle without a windshield must also wear glasses, goggles, or a face shield. Helmet laws vary by state, so check the rules where you ride if you are traveling.
