The Shoei GT Air 3 is a premium full face touring helmet built for riders who want long distance comfort, quiet air management, integrated sun protection, and modern communication capability without giving up a sporty feel. Shoei refined nearly every major system from the previous GT Air 2, then validated the design in its in house wind tunnel.
What changed from the GT Air 2
The reshaped shell and spoiler reduce aerodynamic drag while improving stability at highway speed. Shoei reports approximately 6 percent less wind resistance and 11 percent less lift than the GT Air 2. The ventilation system places the intake ports directly in the air stream and uses internal EPS channels to move fresh air through the helmet more effectively. The center locking shield system is easier to operate with either hand, and the internal sun visor provides about 5 millimeters more coverage.
Shell and impact management

Aerodynamics and ventilation
The compact shell shape, molded rear spoiler, and carefully controlled surface transitions were developed to reduce buffeting and lift in real riding positions. A large chin intake and upper intake feed air into channels molded through the EPS liner. Warm air exits through the rear exhaust system. The front vent includes a removable insect filter for easier cleaning.

QSV 2 internal sun visor
The enlarged internal sun visor offers about 5 millimeters more coverage than the prior design. It deploys with a smooth external slider and retracts fully into the shell when not needed. The visor is designed to preserve the helmet’s protective liner rather than reducing EPS thickness around the eye area.
Comfort for long rides
The removable and washable three dimensional interior uses moisture managing fabrics in high contact areas. Replaceable center pads and cheek pads allow fit tuning over the life of the helmet. A stainless steel micro ratchet closure provides secure, repeatable adjustment, while the 21 millimeter chin strap helps spread pressure comfortably. A breath guard and chin curtain help manage fog and lower edge turbulence.
Communication ready
Shoei Comlink integration provides a clean mounting area for the optional Sena SRL3 communication system. The helmet remains streamlined when the system is installed, with controls and speakers positioned specifically for this shell.
