The Key To Sales?

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor It Pays To Be Clever The sign in the store window read “Motorcycle Gere.” Al noticed the spelling error and decided to do something about it. He went in and asked to see the store owner. As luck would have it, the owner was at the checkout counter. “Did you know you have a spelling mistake on the sign in your window?” The proprietor answered, “Sure I know. Every day a few people stop in to tell me about it. And you know what? Almost every one of them buys something. What can I show you?”

Together Forever

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor Eternity Is A Long Time Ardys and Marty had a very unfortunate accident while motorcycling and ended up in front of the Pearly Gates. St. Peter asked, “Are you two married?” “No,” they answered in unison. But that got them thinking. Ardys said, “Maybe we should get married. We always planned to make it legal some day.” Marty asked St. Peter, “Can we get married in Heaven?” “Well, I don’t know. Nobody has ever wanted to do that before. Let me get a ruling.” St. Peter was gone for a long time, which gave Ardys and Marty time for lots of second guessing. “Eternity is a long time,” Ardys said. “What if we fall out of love?” “Yeah. It’s not like on earth—until death do you part.” After three months, St. Peter came back. He looked at his clipboard and said, “Yes, you can get married in Heaven.” Marty piped up. “What about a divorce? Can we get a divorce in Heaven?” St. Peter slammed down his clipboard. “It took me three months to find a clergyman. "How long do you think it’s going to take me to find a lawyer?"

Luck of the Irish

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor Luck Of The Irish It was dark that St. Patrick’s Day eve. Sean the Irishman and English Jeremy were motorcycling in opposite directions on a twisty mountain road. Both men were going too fast, and the inevitable happened. They collided. Luckily, both men had helmets and good leathers and were not seriously injured. This seemed so miraculous that both men had to laugh out loud. Jeremy said, “We are two lucky men, that’s for sure.” “Aye, the good St. Patrick and Himself were looking after us.” “We should have a drink to celebrate, but I’m afraid my bottles of ale are broken.” Sean carefully removed a swaddled bottle of twelve-year-old Jameson’s Irish whiskey from his luggage. “Here you go,” he said to Jeremy. Jeremy grabbed the bottle and swigged and swigged and swallowed until half the bottle was gone. Finally, he turned to Sean. “Your turn.” “No,” said Sean. “I’ll wait until the highway patrol has come and gone, thank you.”

Too Good To Be True

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor Too Good To Be True Alfie rode his motorcycle to work every day. And every day he told anyone who would listen how important safety was and that the company didn’t do enough about it. Simon, the president of the company, heard about this and called Alfie into his office. “Alfie, I hear you have some strong opinions. You complain that this company doesn’t do enough about safety. Just what do you think we should be doing?” Alfie figured this might be his only chance to make a difference, so he spoke right up. “We should have two paid days devoted to safety training. We should get ergonomic office furniture and stand-up desks for everyone. We should have only organic food in the lunchroom. And, we should have a fulltime health and fitness coach we can work with when we need to.” Simon had his response ready. “Suppose I give you all that and a twenty-thousand dollar bonus for coming up with those ideas. What would you say?” “Are you joking!” “Sure I am. Aren’t you?”

Karma?

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor The Best Revenge Terry was a motorcycle policeman. He got appendicitis and was rushed into surgery. Fortunately, the surgery went well. He woke up and was surprised to feel a pulling sensation on his chest. He looked down and found three long strips of extra-strength sticky tape traversing the hairy abundance on his upper torso. On one of the strips, written upside down so Terry could read it, was: “From the nurse you gave a ticket last week. I’ll be around later to remove these.”

Beating The Heat

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor Sweat 'em out Bill was an air-conditioner repair man. In the middle of one very busy summer, he pulled up to Mary Ellen’s house. He parked his motorcycle and knocked on the door. Mary Ellen showed him the broken air conditioner, and Bill opened his tool kit. As he began to work, Bill asked, “How long has the air conditioner been broken?” “Two weeks,” Mary Ellen answered. “Why did you wait so long to call me?” “My in-laws were here and they were planning to stay for a month.”

No Frowning!

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor A Gorilla In The Backseat We’re not at all sure which of these silly laws is actually enforced, but we got a few chuckles and a couple guffaws making this little list: In Alaska, you can’t drive with a dog strapped to the roof of your vehicle. In Denver, you can’t drive a black car on Sunday. In Minneapolis, you can’t drive a red car on Lake Street. In Glendale, CA, you may not jump from a car going 65 mph. In Derby, KS, screeching your tires is a misdemeanor that can earn you 30 days in the pokey. In Montana, you can’t leave your sheep untended in your truck. On Pennsylvania country roads, you’re supposed to stop and fire a rocket every mile to warn livestock that you’re coming. In New Jersey, you’re forbidden to frown at a policeman. In Massachusetts, you must not drive with a gorilla in the backseat. We assume this would apply to having a gorilla as a passenger on your motorcycle.

A Penny For Your Thoughts

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor The Last Laugh We all know that the children of motorcycle enthusiasts are smarter than average. With that in mind, come visit a local convenience store. As on every school day, Bart is waiting outside for his dad to come on his motorcycle and give him a ride home. And, as on every school day, the bigger boys are teasing him. “There’s Bart. He’s two bricks short of a load.” “He’s so ignorant. Watch this.” One boy held a dime in one hand and a nickel in the other. “Which one do you want, stupid?” He asked Bart. Without hesitation, Bart grabbed the nickel. The other boys laughed and went about their day. The storekeeper, thinking his intervention might be necessary to stop the bullying, asked Bart, “Don’t you know that the dime is worth more than the nickel even though it isn’t as big?” “Sure, I do. But if those guys knew I knew, they’d stop teasing, and so far I’ve got twelve bucks out of them.”

Slowing Down vs. Stopping

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor Learning The Hard Way Gloria is a motorcycle cop in eastern Washington State. She tells this story: I was on routine patrol watching an intersection when a red Jag approached the four-way stop. The driver slowed, but didn’t stop. I pulled him over. He rolled down the window and said, “Here’s my registration, insurance, and driving license. I should warn you, I’m a pretty well-known lawyer in Hollywood and I haven’t paid a traffic ticket yet. What are you accusing me of doing?” “You didn’t stop at the stop sign.” “Well, I slowed down, and no one was coming.” “You rolled through that stop sign and you’re getting a ticket,” she said. “Hah! If you can show me the difference between slowing down and stopping, I’ll pay the fine.” So she told him to get out of his car and whacked his shins with my nightstick. “Okay. Do you want me to stop or just slow down?”

Creative Deception

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor Wishful Thinking or Lying? Kerry, the policewoman, takes the description of a missing husband from a woman named Ella, “He’s six feet tall, with a great build, dimples when he smiles, and a laugh that brings sunshine in a coal mine.” As she’s getting onto her motorcycle, Kerry sees a neighbor park her cycle in the driveway. To verify the description, she repeats that description to the neighbor and asks, “Can you add anything to that?” “Well,” the neighbor says after shutting off her own motorcycle, “you can’t believe a word Ella says. Her husband is actually not even five foot two. He’s fat and he’s the biggest grump in the world. I’ve never seen him smile, let alone laugh.” Kerry goes back to Ella’s house. “Why did you give me such a false description?” “Just because that’s not what I lost doesn’t mean that isn’t what I want back.”

Roommate Drama

Eagle Leather

A Little Humor Just Keep Jammin' Archie McTavish was thrilled! He was the first of his clan to be admitted to Oxford. He rode his motorcycle from his isolated farmstead through Scotland and England to the university, where he took up residence in the dormitory. After a few months, his mother came to see how he was doing. “Well,” said Archie, “my studies are going well, but these English are awful noisy.” “What do you mean?” asked his mother. “The one on that side of my room bangs his head against the wall, bang, bang, bang, night after night. And the guy on the other side there, he just screams and screams.” “Goodness gracious, son! How do you handle that?” “Ach, all I can do is just sit still and keep playing my bagpipes.”
