All patches feature a heat- sealed backing. This means that our patches may be ironed on or sewn on to most clothing easily.
Patch Sewing Instructions:
Note: Sewing by hand will give you greater control and is easier than trying to use a sewing machine when sewing into leather. Sewing on a patch will leave permanent holes on your jacket to please be careful about placement before you start.
Identify where you want the patch and outline the area with tailor’s chalk
Using a sewing pick, pick open the bottom seam of your garment lining just enough to allow your hand to fit inside the garment
Position your inside hand so it is resting flat between the lining and outlines area
Use your outside had to position the patch, you can lightly spray leather adhesive on the area to hold the patch, however this is not a permanent adhesive
Begin threading your upholstery needle using a strong nylon thread that matches your patch, use your thimble to push the needle through the leather moving from inside the item to the outside
This will allow the knot to be on the inside of the item, then pull the needle through and out with your outside hand and back down through the patch and leather
Continue this pattern all around the patch, keeping stitches close together and to the end of the patch for the most secure attachment
Once you have gotten back to where you started, send the needle through the first stitch, and loop it around a few times to make a finishing knot
Finally restitch the garments lining and your all set
Patch Iron-on Instructions:
Preheat your iron to 325-335 degrees
Do Not Use Steam
Press the area where you want your patch to be for 25 seconds
Position the patch on the garment so that it is positioned where you would like it to be
Place a lightweight cloth over the patch, using a back-and-forth motion with medium pressure iron the area for 15 seconds
The iron should never come into direct contact with the patch
Carefully turn your garment inside out, using the same back and forth motion firmly iron the inside of the item where your patch is for about 1 minute
Turn the garment right side in once more, use your clean lightweight cloth to cover the patch
Iron the edges of the patch through the cloth to ensure they are thoroughly sealed
Let the garment cool completely before wearing

Water Shield Bottle Sizes
Obenauf's Water Shield is available in two sizes. The 8 ounce bottle comes with a finger pump sprayer providing a fine mist and is about the correct size to spray suede and fabric footwear. Make sure you spray your clean, dry, fabric boot laces as well. This will protect your laces from absorbing moisture and rotting. Odorless Silicone Waterproofing Spray
Providing extended water protection to fabrics, canvas, nylon, suede, and chrome-tanned leather. We use pump sprayer applicators which allow a higher silicone content resulting in a more concentrated formula than aerosol dispensers. This creates a more durable and long lasting water protection. Obenauf's® Water Shield On Smooth Leather?
In regards to waterproofing leather, the preferred use of Obenauf's® silicone waterproofing would be on chrome-tanned leather boots. Some Chrome leather doesn't require an oil preservative at all. If you aren't sure if your boots are chrome leather, ask the manufacturer.
Water Shield can be used to enhance waterproofing on other smooth leather boots, but we recommend our waterproofing spray be used on them only as an overcoat after leather preservative has been applied. This is because silicone waterproofing is a surfactant and does not have any conditioning ingredients required to restore or preserve full-grain leather.

Application
APPLYING OBENAUF'S SILICONE WATERPROOFING SPRAY
Apply silicone waterproofing in an open, well ventilated area with a fine mist sprayer, approximately 6 inches away in a crisscross pattern to coat evenly, not heavily. Allow 1 hour to cure between applications. Multiple applications increase waterproofing and will last longer. The amount required will depend on the type of fabric, whether natural or synthetic. We recommend up to 4 applications for improved coverage on fabric and a 24 hour waiting period after final application to achieve full water protection. Silicone waterproofing may not adhere to some fabrics. Test in a hidden area if color change is a concern.
WATERPROOFING SPRAY STORAGE RECOMMENDATIONS
To prevent freezing, store above 5 degrees Celsius. In case of freezing, thaw at room temperature before use and shake to reconstitute. Shake well before each use. To avoid clogging, rinse sprayer nozzle with hot water after use. Unscrew nozzle from bottle, place in a cup of water, pump water through sprayer until the spray is clear. Remove from cup, pump out remaining water, replace nozzle back onto bottle.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
General CareICON® pants are tough and designed to withstand a great deal of asphalt induced abuse, but no pant can survive every conceivable motorcycle accident. Should the unfortunate occur and you crash in your ICON® pant, thoroughly review the product for any signs of structural damage (major abrasion, holes, damaged seams, etc). Should there be any damage or if you are unsure if the damage is structural, you should replace the pant. Most Icon textile pants use a coating on the shell material which reinforces the overall fabric matrix. Improper cleaning of the pant could compromise the integrity of this coating leading to material failure. Unnecessary exposure to Sunlight and UV rays should be avoided. This is most critical when storing your pant. Always store your pant in a dark, well ventilated area. Pants are best hung on a wide padded hanger. Do not wrap in plastic or other nonporous materials as this may cause the fabric to discolor. Finally, avoid exposing your pant (or any of your riding gear) to fumes or vapors from gasoline or any harsh chemicals. These fumes weaken the structure of nylon and polyester textiles lessening their inherent protective capabilities.
Pre-CleaningIt is important to follow a few simple steps to prepare your pant for washing. Remove the insulated liner from the pant (if so equipped). When removing the liner unsnap each snap carefully - DO NOT apply excessive force - as this may break the snap. Remove all impact protectors from the pant. Make sure to close and fasten all the pocket flaps.
CleaningInsulated Liner - Hand wash the insulated liner in warm water with a mild liquid laundry detergent. Thoroughly rinse insulated liner with clean water to remove all detergent. Should you desire to clean the impact protectors they can be cleaned by wiping the protectors with a damp cloth.Pant - Textile Areas - Hand wash the pant with warm water and a mild liquid laundry detergent. Hand washing minimizes unnecessary stress on the garment. A soft bristle tooth brush works well in helping to remove any bug strikes or road debris. Rinse the pant with clean water to remove all detergent. DO NOT use any form of oxygenated detergent, bleach, fabric softeners, or dry cleaning chemicals. These items will damage the pant!

CARE INSTRUCTIONS
General CareICON® jackets are tough and designed to withstand a great deal of asphalt induced abuse, but no jacket can survive every conceivable motorcycle accident. Should the unfortunate occur and you crash in your Icon jacket thoroughly review the product for any signs of structural damage (major abrasion, holes, damaged seams, etc). Should there be any damage or if you are unsure if the damage is structural you should replace the jacket.
CleaningInsulated Liner - Hand wash the insulated liner in warm water with a mild liquid laundry detergent. Thoroughly rinse insulated liner with clean water to remove all detergent. Should you desire to clean the impact protectors they can be cleaned by wiping the protectors with a damp cloth. Jacket (Textile Areas) - Hand wash the jacket with warm water and a mild liquid laundry detergent. Hand washing minimizes unnecessary stress on the garment. A soft bristle toothbrush works well in helping to remove any bug strikes or road debris. Rinse the jacket with clean water to remove all detergent. DO NOT use any form of oxygenated detergent, bleach, fabric softeners, or dry cleaning chemicals. These items will damage the jacket!
DryingInsulated Liner - The insulated liner should be allowed to drip dry-only. DO NOT use a machine dryer, direct sunlight, hair dryers or any type of heater during the drying process. Jacket - DO NOT use a machine dryer. Subjecting the jacket to a machine dryer will damage the jacket and possibly the dryer itself. The only recommended method for drying the jacket is drip-drying. Do not subject the jacket to direct sunlight, hair dryers or any type of heater during the drying process. DO NOT use an iron on any part of the garment.
