The genuine Shoei CWR F2 Transitions Pinlock Ready shield automatically adjusts its tint as ultraviolet light conditions change. It remains relatively clear in lower light and darkens in bright daylight, reducing the need to carry and swap between separate clear and tinted shields.
How the adaptive tint works
Photochromic technology reacts to ultraviolet exposure. Shoei lists a dynamic visible light transmission range of approximately 23 to 80 percent. In changing conditions the shield progressively adjusts rather than switching instantly. Shoei reports that it fades to about 50 percent light transmission within approximately two minutes when moving away from strong ultraviolet exposure.

Important: The Pinlock insert is sold separately. Photochromic performance depends on temperature, ultraviolet exposure, age, and whether a motorcycle windscreen blocks ultraviolet light. The shield may not become fully dark behind some windscreens.
