A Shorter-Cut Leather Vest Built for the Riding Position
The Eagle Lowside Vest is a club-style leather vest for riders who prefer less length through the body. Its shorter cut helps reduce extra material around the waist when you settle onto the bike, while the clean profile works well over a T-shirt, flannel, hoodie, or riding layer.
Fit is the reason we recommend trying this vest on at Eagle Leather. The Lowside is cut closer through the chest than many traditional vests, and the right size depends on how you plan to wear it. Bring the layer you normally ride in and our team can help you compare sizes before you commit.
Why Riders Choose the Lowside
- Shorter riding cut: Designed approximately three inches shorter than a traditional vest to help reduce bunching and ride-up while seated.
- Substantial cowhide leather: A real motorcycle-gear feel with the weight and structure many riders want from a leather vest.
- Clean single-panel back: Provides an uninterrupted area for riders considering patches or embroidery.
- Club-style front: Rolled collar, covered snaps, and a cropped center zipper keep the profile clean and functional.
- Useful exterior storage: Two snap-down chest pockets plus two lower snap-down pockets keep everyday essentials within reach.
- Rider-focused interior storage: Interior pocketing adds secure storage without cluttering the outside of the vest.
- Mesh lining with access panels: Helps with comfort and makes future patch or embroidery work easier to access.
- Blacked-out hardware: Dark zippers and hardware maintain the understated look.
- YKK zippers: Proven zipper hardware for everyday use.
- Back armor pocket: Designed to accept compatible back protection; armor is sold separately.
Fit Advice From Eagle Leather
Don't choose this vest from your shirt size alone. The Lowside's shorter body and closer chest fit are part of what makes it different. Customer feedback on this model shows that some riders stay with their usual size while others size up, especially when layering. For the best result, measure your chest and compare it with the chart below. Better yet, visit Eagle Leather wearing the hoodie, flannel, jacket, or other layer you expect to ride in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Lowside run small?
It is intentionally closer through the chest than many traditional motorcycle vests. Depending on your build and what you wear underneath, you may prefer your usual size or more room for layering. Trying it on with your actual riding layers is the best way to decide.
Why is the Lowside shorter than a traditional vest?
The shorter body is designed for the seated riding position. Less excess length can mean less material stacking around your waist or pushing the vest upward while you're on the bike.
Can I wear it over a hoodie or riding jacket?
Yes. Just remember that layering changes the fit. If you plan to wear the Lowside over another garment, bring that layer into Eagle Leather and try the combination together.
Is this a lightweight fashion vest?
No. The Lowside is intended as substantial leather motorcycle gear. Riders frequently comment on its solid feel and construction, which is another reason it is useful to handle and try on in person.
Is the back suitable for patches?
The single-panel back gives you a clean, uninterrupted area for patch or embroidery work, and the lining includes access intended to make that work easier. Make sure you're happy with your fit before making permanent modifications.
Should I order my normal shirt size?
Use your chest measurement and intended riding layers rather than shirt size alone. Body shape and layering can make a meaningful difference with this shorter, closer-fitting design.
Why try the Lowside at Eagle Leather?
Because the features that make this vest different—its shorter body, closer chest fit, leather weight, and layering room—are much easier to judge when you're actually wearing it. Our in-store team can help you compare sizes and find the fit that feels right before you ride away.
