The 2015 Oyster Run is September 27 - Eagle Leather

Eagle Leather Is a Stop Along the 2015 Oyster Run!

The Largest Motorcycle Run in the Pacific Northwest Is September 27

For 34 great years, the annual Oyster Run has been bringing riders together on the fourth Sunday of every September. This free event (yes—it’s free) is a celebration of community, rider spirit, and—of course—a love of oysters!

It all started in 1981, when two friends decided to take a ride to Edison, WA for some oysters and make a few stops along the way. A couple of years later, more than 200 riders were joining them, and the destination had to be moved to Anacortes, WA. It’s been that way ever since, and the Oyster Run has grown into the largest motorcycle run in the Pacific Northwest.

Because of the sheer size of the event, it’s impossible for everyone to follow the same route. Your route to Anacortes is whatever you want it to be! There is no official start time or starting point. The only “official” day of the run is Sunday, but many people choose to make a week or weekend out of visiting the area and enjoying everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer.

Here’s how the ride works: check out the list of “biker friendly” stops on the way to Anacortes. You’ll notice that Eagle Leather is one of them, so we definitely recommend stopping to see us! Hit a few more biker-friendly places along your route, and then roll into beautiful downtown Anacortes any time on Sunday, September 27, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. It’s going to be packed, so we suggest getting there early.

Sunday’s activities in Anacortes include music by The Unfaithful Servants (rock with a lot of blues), a performance by the Seattle Cossacks Motorcycle Drill Team, appearances by the Whidbey Island Roller Girls, various street vendors, food, and much more entertainment and fun in a beautiful setting.

This year’s ride carries a bit more meaning than in other years, as the run has been dedicated in memory of Irish McKinney. Irish was a longtime rider and passionate community advocate who helped raise more than $26,000 for his local food bank in White Center, WA. On August 17, Irish passed away doing what his heart loved. So we’ll honor our fallen brother by doing what we all love—riding.

If you have any questions about the Oyster Run, visit the event’s official website for details. We can’t wait to see you along your way to Anacortes!
