This year the Sturgis Rally is 75 years old!
Brenda Vasknetz is the director of the rally for the city of Sturgis. In a recent article in the Rapid City Journal by Deb Holland she said that she expects nearly a million visitors for the rally August 3 through August 9.
“Some of these people have been coming for 30 to 35 years. And for some of them, it might be their last Sturgis,” she said.
We’ll be keeping tabs on what Sturgis is planning, and we’d like to know if you plan to attend this historic event. Let’s talk about it on Facebook!
Carey Hart will be the Grand Marshall of the Mayor’s Ride this year. He’s the famous motocross freestyle racer who began competing when he was six year’s old. His tricks are legendary, including the “superman seat grab” and its inverse the “Hart attack.” He’s won medals at the Australian X-Games and the Summer X-Games, participate in the Gumball 3000 road rally from San Francisco to Miami—and so much more.
We don’t know whether or not Carey’s wife Pink (yes, that Pink) will attend.
It’s already too late to register for the Mayor’s Ride—but you can still register for the Second Annual BozBros Ride through the Black Hills with AMA National Champions and former World Superbike competitors Ben and Eric Bostrom. It starts in downtown Sturgis August 5th. After the ride, adults can party with the Bostrom's at the World Famous Knuckle Saloon. Free burgers and beer will be flowing just for you in your private party section!
Participants will also receive a one-of-a-kind Sturgis BozBros's Swag Bag. Proceeds benefit the Sturgis Rally Charities Foundation.
