Fun-Filled June Events

One of Tacoma’s national treasures, The LeMay Collections at Marymount (Not the Tacoma Dome), has what is judged the largest collection of vehicles in the world. During LeMay Motorcycle Days, you have the opportunity to view the motorcycles in the collection and also enjoy some amazing extra exhibitions. According to Jeff Stewart, Events and Marketing Manager, this year, the museum has extended Motorcycle Days so they can include more special events. In addition to the LeMay Collection motorcycles, other motorcycle enthusiasts display their rides in this juried show. (Prospective exhibitors explain their special vehicle to the museum’s experts, who decide whether or not to display it.)

June 13, LeMay Motorcycle Days opens at 9 a.m.. You’ll be able to tour all the buildings—the last tour of the day starts at 3 p.m.—until 5 p.m. These tours are available daily and include exhibitor’s machines as well as those in the Lemay Collection. You can pay $15.00 for a single-day admission or $30.00 for an All-Access Pass.

Women riders pay just $5.00 entry. There will be exhibitions of motorcycle soccer at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Between the Vintage Trials and the motorcycle soccer, you’ll see some skilled riding! From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. food booths will be on site, along with motorcycle-related vendors.

June 16, Sunday Father’s Day Dad gets a special $5.00 entry fee. You’ll have another chance to see motorcycle soccer at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Food booths will again be open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. as will vendors.

June 23, Sunday, “The TMC-LeMay Duck Benefit Run & Ice Cream Social" is new this year Jeff Stewart says. It’s an event that benefits an organization that helps provide housing for veterans, so it’s great fun for a worthy cause.” The Ride starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends back at Marymount for an ice cream social. The Ride costs $20.00 for the rider and $15 for a passenger, and this includes admission to the Museum.

June 29, The Great Race! Jeff also announces that the Museum will be the final stop in The Great Race, a cross-country classic car race. On , beginning at 3 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. the cars will roll in. Local car clubs will put on a Show and Shine Car Show, and there will be music, a beer garden, food trucks, and vendors—and a chance to meet the cross-country drivers and crews and to see their classic cars.

Both of these events will be fun for the whole family and a chance to participate in one of the special places that make the Tacoma area so special.
