Summertime and the ridin’ is easy. Groups gather to enjoy the open road, stop at a few pit stops, and (often) support a good cause. Everyone is welcome at these group rides and you can find many of them posted on the Eagle Leather Ride Guide.
Later this June, for example, is the Tenth Annual Brian Fisher Memorial Ride. Brian Fisher was a King County Corrections Officer who passed away. The Ride began as a way to show respect for a fallen officer and to assist his family with financial and emotional support. It has continued to honor Brian and to assist other Corrections staff and law enforcement personnel and their families who have died or fallen into disastrous circumstances.
The ride will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 25 at the Eagle Leather Lakewood Store (10222 S. Tacoma Way). A brief ride meeting will begin at 9:45 and the ride will depart at 10 a.m. The procession in honor of the fallen will proceed to Ocean Shores Shilo Inn Suites Hotel for a dinner buffet beginning at 3 p.m. The Seattle Cossacks Motorcycle Stunt and Drill Team will entertain and there will be three raffles, one for a dollar a ticket, a 50/50 raffle, and one for five dollars per ticket, and a silent auction. This is a family event; there will be games for the kids.
Register online here. The deadline is June 15. An adult entry is $40.00; child is $15.00 and that includes the dinner and one ticket on the dollar raffle. All vehicles, even cars and trucks, are welcome. The hotel is offering reduced room rates, so it you want to stay overnight, mention the Brian Fisher Memorial Ride to get the discount. Eagle Leather is proud to be a sponsor of this event.
On July 8, the Relay for Life Poker Run will begin at Eagle Leather’s Auburn Store. You can leave any time between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Under the aegis of Thunder in the Valley, the ride raises money for Relay for Life’s fight against breast cancer. Poker hands cost $20.00 per bike. Riders, and extra hands, are just $5.00.
Riders will stop at Rock Ridge Orchards in Enumclaw, CJ’s Bakery in Black Diamond, Green Valley Meats in Auburn, and finish at Lawless Harley Davidson in Renton. Then there’ll be a live band, a barbecue, door prizes and cash prizes of $150.00 for the best poker hand and $50.00 for the worst.
Group rides are great fun, whether you’re new to the area or have ridden here forever. You can meet old friends and make new ones, have a thoroughly enjoyable day, and do some good all at the same time.
If you have an event coming up, post it on the Eagle Leather Ride Guide. We often mention rides from the Guide in our newsletter, too. It doesn’t cost anything to post a ride and all it takes is filling out a simple form here.
