The Countdown to Sturgis Has Begun
Check Out the Most Anticipated Events of the Rally

The 76th annual Sturgis® Motorcycle Rally™ will run from August 8 to August 14 this year. If you’ve never been to Sturgis, this year might be the time to cross this rally off your bucket list. And if you’ve been before, then you’ll want to go again to try to fit in all the must-sees and must-dos that you ran out of time for. Several of the key events of the Rally require advance registration.

We’re thinking of must-dos like the Mayor’s Rally through the two-lane roads and byways of the spectacular Black Hills. You’ll ride behind this year’s Grand Marshall, Kevin Windham (K-Dub) to several attractions and end with lunch with Mayor Carstenson at Custer State Park. You must be 21 to participate. Register well ahead of time, because this ride fills early. It cost $176.00 plus tax. Proceeds benefit the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department and you get a swag bag with pins, T-shirt, decanter, and gifts from ride sponsors.

Another famous ride is the BozBros Benefit Ride to help the Sturgis Parks and Recreation Trail System. It’s headed up by Ben and Eric Bostrum. After riding fifty glorious miles through the Black Hills, you’ll have a private party with the brothers—free beer and hamburgers. Again, register plenty early. It costs $150.00 and has its own BozBros Swag Bag.

Women motorcycle enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Angel’s Ride behind Michelle Thomson, president of the Black Hills and Badlands Tourism Association, and avid biker. Women of all ages and levels of experience are welcome. Sign up to receive registration information on the Sturgis website.

New this year is the Good Ride, which will benefit the Sturgis High School welding class. Carey Hart, who was last year’s Grand Marshall of the Mayor’s Ride. You’ll start by burning up the dragway, then ride through the hills with Carey. After lunch, Bell Helmets is throwing a pool party for ride participants. And, of course, there will be swag.

Sturgis is tearing up its streets so you can be forever part of the City of Riders. You can buy a commemorative brick, which will be inscribed as you choose, and then used as permanent pavement. If you like, you can also have a replica of that brick sent to your home. Find the details here.

The Sturgis Dragway will feature six days of racing excitement. You can get a newsletter detailing race classes and other information by signing up here. The Mayor’s Pub Crawl is on again this year. Learn about the celebrities and the venues as they are set by signing up here.
