Motorcycle Tools For Traveling

When you travel on a motorcycle it is important to have the right tools to get you out of most mechanical issues that may occur.  We know not every issue will be fixable with the tools you keep on your motorcycle, but this list of tools can reduce the need for a tow if something happens.

Tools For Your Tires

Aside from the typical wrenches and screwdrivers, you will want to keep these items if possible

  • Tire pressure gage
  • Tire inflator or compressor
  • Tubeless tire plugger
  • Tire patches
  • CO2 Cartridges

Tools For Your Bike

It is recommended to keep a set of standard (feet, inches, etc.) and metric (centimeter, millimeters, etc.) tools on your bike, because you may meet or be traveling with another rider whose bike uses the other kind of measurements than your own.  In addition, you will want to include:

  • A multi-tool
  • Flashlight
  • Hex Keys
  • Oil Filter Wrench
  • Torque Wrench
  • Vice grips
  • Volt / Amp meter

Additional Recommended Items

  • Tape Duct Tape, Electrical Tape, and Insulation Tape
  • Cable Ties in many sizes
  • Tiedown Straps, Bungee Cords, or Cargo Nets
  • Flares or Emergency Signs
  • Fuses, spare bulbs, and a kickstand pad
  • A portable Jump Starter / Charger
  • Steel Epoxy, Loctite, and Super Glue
  • Small Punch
  • Hammer
  • WD40 and Chain Lube
  • Tow Rope
  • Spare Master Links to repair the chain.
  • And a Fuel Bottle.

First Aid Kit & More

  • First Aid Kit
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Lip moisturizer
  • Spare Riding Glasses

Remember it is certainly better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Wouldn’t you agree?
