Love to cruise but feel uncomfortable on wet roads? Register now for a new event we are calling "Ride in the Rain." The event, that will be held on Sunday, October 21 and start at Eagle Leather Lakewood at 9:30 AM, will pair the riding and instruction professionals Bret Tkacs and Chris Johnson for a four hour clinic, demo, gear review and ride. And yes, we are hoping for rain!
Note that this event is limited to 150 individuals and registration is required!
Build Your Confidence On Wet Roads
The Ride in the Rain event will specifically focus on techniques for riding more safely in wet conditions with discussions on how group riding is influenced in the rain, added consequences of lane choice, and other important safety approaches.
The preliminary discussion will be followed by a rain gear introduction, then a hands-on demo and Q&A session. Riders will then be invited to start up engines and test their new skills on a free ride to Eagle Leather's Auburn store. Once there, riders will have a follow-up review and demo session, followed by a discussion on new licensing regulations, and an introduction to cold-weather gear before the session is concluded.
"Many people are skittish when it comes to riding in the rain," Mike said, "and there are definitely added skills that people should be aware of when riding wet surfaces." Mike noted that he has previously been a bit wary of getting on the road when rain was threatening.
But with the right training and gear, there's no reason you can't enjoy a ride in the rain as much as when the sun is out and roads are dry!
"We definitely live in an area where rain is a constant. But we like to ride too!" Mike said. "It's a bonus to have more confidence and the right clothing to get out on the wet roads. If you have ever felt the same way, I definitely encourage you to sign up for this free event."
Lucky Participant will Win Gerbings
To make the event more fun, Eagle Leather will give away a Microwire Heated Jacket Liner by Gerbings Heated Clothing valued at $219.95. Registered participants will receive their drawing ticket at sign-in in Lakewood between 9:30 and 10 AM, then must be present to win at the drawing that will be held in Auburn just about 1:30 PM. Five other door prizes will also be given to randomly drawn participants at the same time.
