Eagle Leather Will Be There -- Be Sure to Stop By Our Booth!

Riders in the Northwest are all a buzz about this Sunday's one day
annual bash in Anacortes -- Oyster Run! Thousands are expected to
attend and highways and ferries will be hustling with every type of bike a
rider can imagine.

Eagle Leather will be there too with lots of inventory and your favorite associates. And just to make things really fun, we will be announcing a new Gear Giveaway at the booth. Be sure to stop by and get entered early!

Oyster Run is enjoying its 31st year as one of Washington's most celebrated riding events. The town of Anacortes virtually closes roads and opens its doors to riders who flood stores and vendors crammed into the quaint town streets.

This free destination event will see plenty of organized and loosely knit riding clubs, along with plenty of friends taking the chance to pair up with others they haven't seen for a while.

But all riders will be thrilled that the forecast is calling for sunny skies and temperatures capping at 66 degrees -- best of all, there is 0% chance of rain!

For Ferry-goers, Reservations Recommended

Veterans of Oyster Run know that traffic can get dicey and certain routes will no doubt be well traveled. KAPS Radio reports that the Washington State Ferry System is calling for heavy traffic in Port Townsend and Mukilteo from 7 to 11 AM. All drivers, including motorcyclists, are encouraged to make reservations (visit the DOT website at or call 511).

For the ride home KAPS reported that officials also expect heavy traffic between 2 and 5 PM in the Coupeville/Keystone and Clinton areas.

"Traffic will be heavy on Highway 20, SR 536 or Memorial Highway, Fir Island Road and Best Road, Chuckanut Drive and Farm to Market Road." KAPS says.

Our Facebook followers have other thoughts on routes: "[Take] anything but I-5, maybe involve Chuckanut Drive and Deception Pass?" Toni Dendurent Gates posted. Steve Firth was a little more specific: "Take Mountain Hwy 7 to Hwy 12, follow over White Pass to Yakima. From Yakima head north to Cle Elum, then north to Hwy 2 and west over Stevens Pass. There are shorter ways to go but who cares?"

Other Necessities for the Day

Other posts on Facebook revealed a variety of things that would be good to take along. Jeff Serrano posted. "Rain gear... first thing that comes to mind." And Barbara Yaple suggested that after her '69 Bonneville, she would take her helmet and a pair of goggles.

But Lynette Wright hit the nail on the head with her post saying she would take "$ for the vendors and Excederin migraine for the next morning."

Along with packing the right stuff for a day trip (also see Bret Tkacs tips, Preparing for the 6 to 8 hour Ride), many will also look for Biker Friendly restaurants along the way. Our recommendation? Take a look at Oyster Run's list of biker friendly eating establishments.

Don't forget to find us at Oyster Run. And please, ride safe!
