Our thanks to the models and attendees at our first Eagle Leather showing of motorcycle-inspired fashion last Saturday. We gave away about 30 prizes during the show, for a retail value of about $2,000.00. The prizes were of all sorts, from heated socks to chaps, from boots to jackets, from cooling bandanas to vests.
The show featured jackets whose design was inspired by motorcycle leathers. But these jackets carried that special flair to the fashion runway. The leather, sheepskin, lambskin, or cowhide from which they are made is thinner and softer than you’ll find in a motorcycle jacket. Oh, what a high-fashion designer can do when inspired by the clean lines and free spirit of motorcycle jackets!
Depending on which jacket you’re seeing, high fashion is evident in belted jackets, decorative seaming—even quilting, use of rivets and big snaps for decoration, and designer collars. These are jackets you’ll wear to work, for a night on the town, even to church. Yes, you can wear them to ride, but they don’t offer the personal protection you get from a traditional motorcycle jacket. On the other hand, most have the practicality that motorcycle enthusiasts crave with zippered pockets aplenty and with zip and snap closures on the cuffs. Some have zip out lining to extend the season in which you’ll wear them.
One of the first things you’ll notice about these new jackets is the array of colors. You’ll be able to coordinate or contrast with your pants and shirt using colors that go way beyond black or brown. You’ll find colors like blue, oxblood, oilsand, brown, and caramel. We just know you’re going to fall in love with these jackets, and we have enough variety for the most inclusive collector.
If you missed the fashion show, take heart. We’re planning two more shows that will include these new jackets and also some of our newer motorcycle gear. Both shows will feature gear with Flair for All Sizes. The first one, concentrating on women’s garments, will be April 27. This is the perfect time for women to put Mother’s Day gift ideas on their wish list and for men to step up and buy. The second one, for the guys, will be on June 8. Again, ladies, come see and find that perfect Father’s Day gift. We’ll have prizes galore and coffee—and snacks too.
