Jerry was on a long motorcycle road trip and decided to take a break. He found a shady spot by the roadside, parked his bike, and sat down to enjoy a sandwich. As he relaxed, he noticed two city workers on the other side of the road. One worker was diligently digging holes, while the other was right behind him, filling them back up. The whole process seemed pointless, and Jerry couldn’t contain his curiosity. He walked over and asked, “Excuse me, but why are you digging holes just to fill them up again?”
One of the workers paused, wiped his sweaty brow, and said, “Well, usually there are three of us. But Matt called in sick today.”
Jerry, still confused, asked, “So, what does Matt do?”
With a knowing smile and a slight shake of his head, the worker replied, “Matt plants the trees.”
