If you want more protection for your legs, chaps might just be the way to go. Pronounced “shaps,” they are crotchless and seatless, designed to be worn over your jeans or other pants. If you look on the Eagle Leather website you’ll find several categories of chaps: braided, jean-style, light weight, plain, short, tall, textile, and thermal.
Braided chaps have braided leather trim, as seen here on these new Eagle Leather-brand chaps. Black Lasso Braided Chaps are unisex and have two jean-style pockets in the front. The legs have four multi-length snaps. A mesh lining helps keep you comfortable and a buffer keeps the liner from catching in the zippers.

Chaps are also available in fabric. These Men’s Textile Chaps have big zippers on the side vents for cool riding. Further temperature control comes from the snap-out thermal liner, which has mesh under it. There are two zippered pockets in the front. Reflective piping and stripes make night-riding safer. Both the thighs and the back stretch for great fit.
Thermal chaps have removable linings. For example, these chaps in distressed brown cowhide have a mesh liner for summer riding and a fully removable, snap-out thermal lining that will help you keep warm in cold weather.
